ALEX MIRUTZIU - * LEAVE GORDON BROWN ALONE *

“Leave Gordon alone” performance is a passionate and emotional manifestation on the main figure of Gordon Brown.
The discourse that I adopted as the core of this performance is a construction from the outside of press releases television and other media, as one Romanian immigrant takes the unexpected and paradoxical position of submissively bearing the guilt and deceptions of his adoptive country leader.

In the process of developing and performing the work I explore how youtube’s short video statements stranger to apathy and conformism, can profoundly disrupt the apparent rigidity of pros and cons arguments on Gordon Brown. The erformance raises one important issue:
In our small communities is this the way we choose our people in power? Is passion and lust with its own risks what this society needs?

In this environment this performance plays also on the edges of what can constitute a father figure and a referential entity to a Romanian immigrant, absurdly placing myself in a mist of contradictions triggered by my social status in the UK. It is not in any way a political appraisal of the party in power nor is on Gordon Brown.
